Homemade Play Dough

recipe and photo by Jessica Lewis Stevens of @sugarhouseworkshop (IG)

Fabulous idea for kids thanks to our new friend, Jessica. Jessica is a maker, writer, and mother of three young boys living in southern Vermont. Read more about this incredible woman and mother on her website. Below you'll find her extraordinary recipe for homemade play dough.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup flour

1 cup water

1/3 cup salt

1 tablespoon cream of tarter

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon Organic Heirloom Blueberry Powder

optional: dried petals or sparkles

DIRECTIONS

Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and place over medium heat. Stir constantly until the dough pulls away from the sides and forms a ball — about 5 minutes.

Let cool until cool enough to touch, then knead smooth and play!

NOTES

NEVER use essential oils.

Store in a quart-sized wide mouth mason jar or any other jar or container that you can easily grab play dough out of.

Store at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

It will last a couple of weeks if stored correctly after each use.

You may compost it once it's run its course.

Happy playing!
