David & the Sunflowers
David LeMay is a recent Environmental Education graduate from WWU. He's with us for a second year working in the warehouse and field helping manage the harvest. Today one of his tasks was to harvest buckets of sunflowers. We sell them as you-pick generally, but we're doing a we-pick special of $1 per stem while they last. When asked what his favorite part of working at Bow Hill is he said "The blueberries of course! But I also enjoy observing the diversity of wildlife in the slough." David is also an avid traveler. He's WWOOF'd (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) throughout South America volunteering on organic farms in trade for living accommodations. We've known David since he was a baby in Kingston, WA and wish he'd stay and work with year-round but we're guessing once the harvest wraps up he'll be hitting the highway for another adventure.
