She's a Winner

She's a Winner
We first met our (now) operations manager, Dayna, and her husband, Sean, at a trivia night. Her team was kicking everyone's butts and taking over the place (she doesn't even let her own husband play on her team). Dayna moved up to the Skagit two years ago after staying in Bow in the early 2000s. "I dreamed that one day I could live here. I still have to pinch myself when I take the Chuckanut exit because I am driving HOME!" she writes. She started a small produce farm, Present Valley Farm, and sells at local farmers markets. She was already a fan of our products, so when the operations manager position opened up, she jumped on it. She lives right across the street – talk about an easy commute.

Since starting Bow Hill, we've religiously gone to trivia at the Longhorn Saloon in Edison; a total dive located on the slough. It's a Wednesday night tradition ours. Dayna has her own team of trivia experts and we have ours (we've even adopted her husband to play with us) and usually come in somewhere close to last. Good grub, friends, and drinks abound at the Longhorn. Come find us there on Wednesdays 7 to 9. Teams of four or less, so bring some legal drinking age friends to play along with.

Some fun trivia on Dayna – 1. She has a B.S. in Botany from the University of Washington and worked at an agricultural biotech company for seventeen years! 2. She plays bass, guitar and sings in a rock band. 3. Her dad started her on the farming path, teaching her to garden with dahlias, strawberries, and carrots. 4. Both sides of her family have farming backgrounds and she has cousins that currently grow garbanzo beans and wheat. 5. Her favorite Bow Hill product is our blueberry ice cream collaboration with Lopez Island Creamery.
